Dave Grohl’s SXSW Keynote

This one may be a little behind schedule, but Dave Grohl’s (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age) keynote speech from SXSW 2013 is one of the most important things I’ve heard from the music industry in recent memory.  A big thing I picked up after watching: it’s not necessarily about inherent talent, or knowledge, or even training, when it comes to the music world.  A deep passion and love of music stands above all else as being the most important tool to drive your music career.  If you have that drive to reach the top, all the other pieces will fall into place along the way.  Dave is now one of the biggest names in the entire industry, getting his start with Nirvana, who as he put it were just a bunch of guys jamming in an old barn.
